Do you want to learn some skills for letting go of depression?
Each year, depression affects around 1 million Australian adults, and over 2 million are affected by anxiety. Depression and Anxiety are identified as the two most prevalent conditions that clients present to counseling with.
To answer the need for compassionate support and education in developing skills to manage depression and anxiety, Midland Women’s Health Care Place offers free workshops and very affordable six week courses in developing skills and strategies to manage Depression and Anxiety.
The workshops and courses have been designed by Sara, one of the counsellors at MWHCP using her skills as a Clinical Psychologist and are co-facilitated by fellow counsellor Sharon.
The groups have been successfully running in 2016 and 2017. The next free workshops and course will focus on Depression and are taking place here at MWHCP on the 9th and 16th of May from 1:00 -3:00pm and then the six-week group will run from the 23rd of May to the 27th June 2017.
We have received wonderful feedback from participants who find the groups to be warm, inviting and supportive, and contain much skills based knowledge that enables participants to continue practicing strategies outside of group and after completing the group.
The main therapeutic approaches of the group are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy. The thoughts-feeling connection and how to change our thinking style, and many lovely mindfulness based strategies are practiced for changing your approach to your thoughts and feelings and gaining relaxation strategies.
