Child Abuse Prevention

Our friendly telephone support workers offer information, referral and ongoing support to those affected by child abuse, concerned about the welfare of a child, or needing family or parenting support. Free-call 1800 688 009 from anywhere in Australia. The telephone service operates from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday and is closed on public holidays.

Child Protection Unit

The Child Protection Unit is a specialised unit within Princess Margaret Hospital devoted to ensuring that all children are adequately protected whilst in hospital and upon discharge from hospital. We see cases not only where there are concerns of child abuse but also cases where long and short-term protection are issues of concern.

The Child Protection Unit not only takes referrals from within PMH, but also accepts referrals from the wider public, including parents, community members and professionals.

Friendly Schools

Friendly Schools is the first anti-bullying initiative for schools developed through extensive research with Australian children and adolescents. It is recognised nationally and internationally as a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to student health and wellbeing that can substantially reduce bullying behaviour. The Friendly Schools initiative has been designed to align with both the Australian Curriculum and the National Safe Schools Framework.

George Jones Child Advocacy Centre

Parkerville Children and Youth Care, is a not for profit organisation which has been providing care to vulnerable children and youth since 1903. We strive to protect, care and advocate for children, youth and their families who have experienced trauma from abuse and to provide a therapeutic environment that will assist their recovery and potential for growth.

Headspace Midland

hM brings together a wide range of service providers, so if you or someone you know needs physical health, mental health, drug and alcohol and/or education or vocational support hM is here to help.

Red Cross – SAM Program

The save-a-mate (SAM) program is run by young people for young people. It aims to promote health and wellbeing through education and support on youth health issues, particularly those related to alcohol and other drug use and mental health. SAM training courses teach participants how to prevent, recognise and respond to emergencies resulting from alcohol and other drug use. SAM operates at festivals, schools, youth groups and in prisons.

The BRAVE Program
